A MAN charged with driving offences after a crash which cost a Blandford woman part of her leg has appeared in court.

Steven Johnson, of Richmond Park Avenue in Bournemouth, appeared before magistrates in Stafford Road on Friday, January 13.

He is charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving, two drug driving offences, driving with alcohol above the legal limit, failing to stop at the scene of a collision, driving without a licence and driving without insurance.

The charges relate to a serious crash which took place in Pine Road, Winton, Bournemouth, at around 5.15pm on Tuesday, September 27 last year.

It is alleged a blue Ford Focus collided with a parked unattended Volkswagen Polo and a parked Mini Cooper. It was reported that the driver of the Focus failed to stop at the scene.

A 35-year-old woman from Blandford, who was collecting items from the back of her car at the time of the collision, sustained life-changing injuries and had to have part of her leg amputated.

Johnson didn't enter a plea to any of the charges and will appear before a judge at Bournemouth Crown Court in February.
