FIFTEEN weeks of roadworks are set to begin on the Upton Bypass.

Starting on Monday, January 16, a temporary 30mph speed limit will be enforced along sections of the A350 and the A35.

This will include the eastbound direction from the Bakers Arms Roundabout to approximately 100m past the Upton Footbridge.

In a westerly direction, the speed limit will run from the Holes Bay North Roundabout to approximately 100m past the slip road from the A350. It will also affect the A350 elevated roundabout and all exit slips to and from the A35.

The work is being undertaken by Dorset County Council to protect the piers to the three bridges crossing the A35.

Both carriageways will be widened and moved towards the central reservation to construct a series of permanent high vertical concrete barriers alongside the bridge repairs.

The speed restrictions are set to remain in place until May 5.
