MUMS will be given special treatment this weekend at Weymouth Sea Life Adventure Park.

This Mother's Day mum's can visit the park and say hello to a friendly seal and her surrogate daughter for free.

And if that wasn't enough, mums will also be treated to a complimentary cream tea.

Families can meet the friendly common harbour seals, Luna and Sija, during the daily interactive talk and feeding time at 3.30pm and find out how the ladies have settled in since moving to the park together to join an all-girl group in 2014.

Luna had a tough start in life after being rescued in Denmark in 1994 as she repeatedly became stranded and was found to be very weak, with cataracts in both eyes.

A short time later she found a home at Seal Life Blackenberge in Belgium.

Ten years later, in 2004, Sija the seal was born at Seal Life Blackenberge, but her mum died just a month later, and Luna, having never had any pups of her own, took on the role of Sija’s surrogate mother.

From there, Luna and Sija moved to Cornish Seal Sanctuary in 2007, where Sija went on to welcome two pups, Buddy and Bo, with male seal, Babyface, before the ladies travelled to their new home in Dorset at Weymouth Sea Life Adventure Park to join the fellow seals already at the park - Smartie, Starburst and Web.

Sarah Everett, senior aquarist at Weymouth Sea Life said: “Both Luna and Sija have settled in really well with the other girls at the park and they can often be found playing together, with Sija guiding Luna around Seal Harbour.

"They are very sweet girls and their bond is very special.”

Tamara Cooper, animal care supervisor at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary added: “It was so lovely for us to see both Luna and Sija move together to Sea Life Weymouth. We enjoy hearing regular updates from the team about how they are getting on.”

To meet the seals and take advantage of this special offer, all mums have to do is just quote 'MUM17' at admissions and they will get free admission with a full paying individual, upon walk-up entry.
