A WOMAN was airlifted to hospital after hitting her head in a rock climbing accident on Portland.
The woman, in her 20s, had been attempting the ‘Reptile Smile’ at the popular climbing spot Blacknor yesterday morning when she fell and cut her head.
Emergency services were called at around 11.40pm, with paramedics from the South West Ambulance Service first on the scene to assist the casualty.
The Wyke Coastguard rescue team was called at 12.50pm to transport the climber to Dorset County Hospital, landing the helicopter at Dorchester Rugby Club.
Although the climber's condition is not currently known, Wyke Coastguard said: “This was an unfortunate accident and we hope it doesn’t stop her returning to climb in the near future.”
