A popular fundraising event is back with a twist. Weldmar Hospicecare’s Midnight Walk is returning for its 11th year in July - with a Brazilian carnival theme.

The walk, which will take place on Saturday, July 15, gives women an option to walk a five, six-and-ahalf or 10 mile route along Weymouth’s Esplanade, quayside and harbour.

Anyone aged over 14 is invited to take part and help raise money for Weldmar’s vital services.

Clair Walker, Weldmar’s major events fundraiser, said: “We are really excited about our 2017 Midnight Walk. For the first time, we have decided to have a theme for the evening and have made sure that the T-shirts reflect that theme.

Each route has a different coloured T-shirt and our walkers seem to love the bright colours we’ve chosen for them.”

Registration costs £14 for those aged under 18 and £18 for adults. This includes entry to the Midnight Walk, an official event Tshirt, flashing headgear, refreshments during and after the walk, a medal, goodies and an evening of entertainment.

Clair said: “We are putting on a big party before the start of the walk so each walker can help us celebrate before taking on the streets of Weymouth.

“There will be a disco, face painting, a photo booth plus lots of fun and entertainment.

“We would love it if both previous walkers and brand new supporters took part in our 2017 walk.

“It’s a great excuse to get the girls together and soak up the atmosphere whilst making a different to your local hospice.”

Weldmar Hospicecare Trust is an independent charity working in Dorset and all its services are provided free of charge.

The NHS provides 32 per cent of Weldmar’s clinical care costs, meaning it needs to raise £10,000 every single day to be able to continue its vital work.
