Weymouth BID has been given the go-ahead from the council to hold its ballot for a second term later this year.

The Weymouth BID manager, Claudia Moore, received a response from Martin Hamilton, Strategic Director for Weymouth and Portland Borough Council saying preparation for a second BID in Weymouth is ‘thorough’ and ‘in accordance’ with regulations.

Mr Hamilton said: “It was interesting to hear the development of the new BID proposal for Weymouth, learning on the experience for the past five years, and to hear how you have developed your proposal for a second BID term in Weymouth.

“After consideration with Cllr Farquharson, and also discussion with appropriate managers within Dorset Councils Partnership, I am pleased to write and confirm that your BID proposition is not in conflict with BID regulation 4 ‘conflict with a policy formally adopted by and contained in a document published by the authority.’

“Your preparation for a second Bid in Weymouth seems thorough and in accordance with Regulations and best practice as prescribed by British BIDs and so I have instructed officers to commission the Electoral Reform Service to conduct the BID ballot for Weymouth with a ballot date June 28.

I wish you well in your campaign to secure a new BID period for Weymouth.”
