DORSET Fire and Rescue Service home safety advisors are offering to conduct a free home safety check at your home to help people in West Dorset reduce the risk of fire.
The free safety checks ensure each home has enough, correctly placed, working smoke alarms, fitting or replacing them free of charge if appropriate, carrying out a visual check of appliances for electrical safety, identifying any high risk activities, looking at the position of furniture and equipment, checking for overloaded electrical sockets, and discussing safe escape routes.
To request a check call 01305 252600 or use the new online form found at dorsetfire.gov.uk In 2010 the service attended 468 accidental fires in the home.
