FUNDRAISERS are being sought to put on their walking shoes in aid of good causes.
Weymouth and Portland Lions Club will hold a fundraising walk along the Weymouth Relief Road to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
The route will leave from the park and ride site at Mount Pleasant, where free parking will be on offer for participants, and trace the footpaths parallel to the relief road for a distance of six miles.
Lions president Trevor Stratton said: “We have a number of major fundraising events throughout the year, but there is a bit of a gap in our programme in spring and early summer.
“With that in mind we are launching a major charity fundraiser, and what better occasion could there be than the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee?”
As with the Lions Christmas Day swim, there will be a £5 entry fee, which will go towards Lions-backed good causes.
Participants are then free to raise sponsorship for a charity of their choice. The walk will take place on Sunday, June 3 from 10am.
