VOLUNTEERS are needed to help make Dorchester shine in time for the summer.
Town councillor David Taylor is appealing for help installing union flags along High West Street and High East Street in time for this weekend’s jubilee celebrations.
It is hoped around 170 flags will be flying this summer to welcome visitors during the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the Olympic torch relay and sailing events in Weymouth and Portland.
Coun Taylor, manager of Owen and Simpson cook shop in Antelope Walk, said: “We’ve already managed to get a few of the flags up and we really want as many up as possible in time for the Jubilee weekend.
“We want to show that Dorchester can shine. The eyes of the world are going to be on our town so we want to make sure it looks its best.
“We need people to help install the flags in the brackets. If anyone, businesses or members of the public, can help please get in touch.”
