A WOMAN has been found guilty of murdering a man she met on the internet.

Carol Kemp, of Torquay, started a relationship with Martin Andrew Rusling, of Park Road, Portland after meeting him online.

Today a jury at Winchester Crown Court found Kemp guilty of murdering Mr Rusling at his home just after Christmas last year.

Earlier prosecutor Robert Davies told the court that Mr Rusling was killed by a single stab wound to his heart during the night between December 27 and 28 last year.

He added that in a statement to the police, Kemp said there had been an argument at Mr Rusling’s bungalow in Park Road, and she had stabbed him accidentally after he grabbed a knife off her that she intended to use to kill herself.

The court heard that Kemp had been staying with Mr Rusling and the argument had been about whether or not they would move in together.

Mr Davies added: “The crushing reality of broken dreams led to her taking out her frustration and anger on this man.”

During the call to an emergency services operative, made at 1.20am on December 28, Kemp is heard crying and saying that Mr Rusling was not moving.

Kemp will be sentenced later this afternoon.
