A MOTHER has vowed to continue losing weight in aid of a Dorset charity after shedding four stone.

Sarah Cox, of Crossways, said the weight loss has changed her life and plans to lose another two stone in return for sponsorship to donate to the Weldmar Hospicecare Trust.

The sponsored slim is part of the charity’s Go for Gold campaign, which is backed by the Dorset Echo and encourages people across the county to take on challenges and help sufferers of long-term, debilitating illnesses.

Patients and their carers and families benefit from the charity’s free services, which range from respite care to bereavement counselling.

Mrs Cox, 38, said her family’s experience of cancer had inspired her to help out.

“Two of my cousins have died of cancer and my husband’s dad also suffered from it.

“Weldmar is a really worthwhile cause, and it’s nice to give something back.”

The mother-of-four began losing weight after realising she was too large to play with her children.

“I was always sitting on the sidelines watching my husband play with the kids and life was passing me by.

“Losing four stone has changed my life dramatically.”

Mrs Cox plans to use healthy food and exercise to lose weight.

She said: “I follow an eating plan and try to do as much exercise as possible.”

She hopes taking part in the campaign will prompt her to renew her efforts to achieve her goal.

She said: “Another two stone is the minimum I want to lose, and then I will have lost six stone altogether.

“I was just plodding along with it but with the campaign ending in September, I have a new goal and an incentive to really push myself.

“I’ll be so happy if I can achieve this.”
