ORGANISERS of Weymouth’s Carnival Queen competition are appealing for more entrants to sign up as the date draws near.

The choosing of the three finalists will take place at a glamorous ceremony to be held on Saturday at Banus nightclub on the Esplanade.

The winner will then be decided by a public vote and announced on carnival day, Wednesday August 15.

As well as getting a front seat at all carnival events and leading the grand procession, the winner will receive lots of great prizes including a holiday, flowers and hair and beauty treatments.

To enter the contest, entrants have to be 18 or over and a resident of Weymouth and Portland.

Pick up an entry from local shops or salons and return it to Banus by the end of the week.

The current carnival queen Lucy Compton said the contest was definitely worth entering and she urged local women to sign up.

Lucy said the selection night was ‘relaxing and friendly’ and entrants had nothing to worry about.
