Suffolk Youth U13s (4) 2, Pinnacle Youth U13s (1) 1, Bushey Premier League - Although Suffolk lost two players through illness just before kick-off, they emerged as victors from this double header against high-flying Pinnacle on Sunday.
In the first game Suffolk soaked up the pressure thanks to the rock solid presence of Danny Woolveridge and Niall Hardiman.
As the game went on Suffolk opened their account through the dangerous-looking Chris Drury. Shortly after Mat Hudson lobbed over the keeper for the second.
Pinnacle came back strongly and nabbed a consolation goal. But Suffolk keeper Kevan Marshall made a great double save to deny them further chances.
Lively Russel Alam teamed up with Josh Godden to slot in Suffolk's third goal. Now Suffolk were in command and a delicate Jack Dyer chip added Suffolk's fourth.
Pinnacle came back strongly in the second match but Suffolk weathered the storm, enabling Jack Dyer to chip past the keeper.
With Tim Soane and Josh Godden ably manning the midfield Suffolk were able to launch their second assault on Pinnacle's goal. This was lashed in by Mat Tilbrook. Not a team to go down without a fight, plucky Pinnacle netted a late goal to reduce their deficit.
