NOW us students are finally free from the troubles of school (for six weeks at least) it gives us the opportunity to become more involved in things we are interested in.

This week I was luckily enough to be part of the crowd watching and supporting the thrilling display by Weymouth and Portland lifesavers.

I know this might not be a great interest to many teens but for someone who aims to eventually join the RNLI this was a brilliant experience and only pushed my ambition for this career further.

Crowds watched as lifesaving scenarios were acted out on Monday evening as part of Weymouth Lifeboat Week.

There were several scenarios starting with the Wyke Coastguard Rescue Team rescuing a casualty from the Nothe Fort and later a 'teddy bear' rescue from the waters.

It showed in great detail how simply a person can quickly come into danger and the pressure put on the RNLI to do all they can to ensure that the person can be returned safe and well.

For me, I think I find the most interesting and exiting aspect of the work is the fact that every day would be different and you would never know what you would be facing that day.
