THERE are many questions we ask ourselves about the refugee crisis - when, where and how did this start? But also, what are we going to do to help?

Syria has had ongoing problems for years it was only in 2011 that it really started to rise.

Now let's skip some years and now we are here September 2015.

There are thousands if not millions of people who are wanting to escape the horrific happenings of their own county.

Human beings like me and you are leaving their lives, their possessions and their family behind in hope of a better life.

The main question I hear, or see on the internet- do we help?

There are two answers- yes or no.

A decision like that is almost impossible to make, there are many different pros and cons for each side.

Helping would be the humane thing to do, we are all human beings, whether we are different race, colour, religion, language, we should all be treated equally.

The people did not ask for this war, all they want is a safe life for their families, just like me and you.

These people are desperate.

There is crisis happening and they cannot just simply wait, we need to act on it.

We are not alone in this position, many countries are doing the same.

However, our country is currently facing our own problems.

In autumn last year there was an estimated 2,774 people sleeping rough and homeless.

Should we not look after those who are here first before we offer to rehome thousands of other people? Do we have the room?

Last year, according to the BBC, the UK population, which is already ‘above average’, increased by almost half a million.

I think most importantly people are worried about who is really coming into our country, are they wanting help, safety and security, or is this a disguise for an attack?

If we let people in do we need to have a secure border, do these people get checked, searched, questioned? Or are they assumed to be good because of the crisis?

It’s very difficult to distinguish those who are here for help and those who are not.

I find myself asking, imagine if this was the other way round?
