THE Apprentice made a return to the TV screens on Wednesday this week, with the highly anticipated eleventh series.

Lord Alan Sugar returned as the business dictator with the help of his two colleagues, Karren Brady and newly appointed Claude Littner - who dedicated fans will remember from the numerous times he’s made candidates quiver with fear during the interview stages.

Nick Hewer who was Lord Sugar’s right-hand man since series one announced that he would leave at the end of last year.

This year, the 18 candidates all range from Elle whose business idol is Taylor Swift, to Joseph, a self-proclaimed ‘godfather of business’.

However, this year the candidates are fewer than last year which had a total of 20 candidates battling for Lord Sugar’s investment deal.

As opposed to series one, where 16 candidates fought for the deal, could this new trend shock audiences with potential double firings?

This series has been billed as the ‘toughest’ one yet, for the first time in history Lord Sugar will create two mixed gender teams at the start of the show, instead of pitting men against women together.

In week one, the candidates were sent to Billingsgate Market, where they had to haggle with experienced market traders for top-quality fish and seafood. Then, they had to make as much profit as possible by selling lunchtime goods to hungry Londoners.

There will be the usual tasks throughout the series, such as selling products at the National Pet Show, making a new health snack, selling property, marketing a brand new shampoo with a catchy advertising campaign and planning parties.

Sadly it was a short lived experience for 'desperate' Dan who was fired after admitting to Lord Sugar he couldn't sell or cook - well what could he do?

Lord Sugar himself has said that this year, will be a complete ‘all rounder’ in terms of the tasks he sets.
