BEAMINSTER swimming pool is under threat of closure if it does not achieve a funding goal of £20,000.
Urgent appeals have been released from the trustees of Beaminster Community Sports Association in an attempt to revive the swimming pool, after being informed that it has been making a loss.
Full time qualified staff have replaced the usual voluntary staff and the pool conditions have recently begun to deteriorate, resulting in large expenditure on maintenance repairs.
The initial funding of £20,000 is required to cover the running costs for the 2016 season until Easter, when a decision will be made as to whether the pool can then re-open.
Further funding will then be needed I believe that the closure of the swimming pool would be a great loss to the people of Beaminster, especially the youth of the town.
With swimming lessons and activities often taking place, the pool is a key feature.
I really hope people get behind this, support this cause and save the pool from sinking.
