JACK Dunne and I were elected last year as the two members of the UK Youth Parliament (MYPs) for Dorset.

In our time, we have managed to meet lots of MPs and, last week, we had the opportunity to spend some time with Oliver Letwin, who is the Conservative MP for West Dorset.

We spoke to Mr Letwin about many of the big issues that affect the young people we represent in the modern world.

We also spoke about how the UK Youth Parliament works and how our time as MYPs has enabled us to become more involved, not just in politics, but also in many aspects of everyday life.

Through our work as MYPs, we have been able to work on exciting projects and become more involved in wider society as a whole.

Our meeting with Letwin was really successful in terms of letting the people who make the decisions know what we, as young people, think.

On top of that, it was a meeting that really advocated the power of young people not only having a loud voice in society, but having one that is listened to by those in power.
