WARM temperatures brought hundreds of tourists and beach-goers to Weymouth last week.

This gave residents and businesses an early glimpse of what the seaside resort will experience as we move into the school summer holidays.

Despite occasional showers and the chill of the wind, the hot climate made sure that the Esplanade and the beach were full of people making the most of the weather while they can.

Business owners are remaining hopeful for the upcoming holidays after a successful weekend.

Melanie Rush, who operates the donkeys on Weymouth beach, spoke to the Dorset Echo earlier this week.

She said: “It’s really good to see the beach busy. I’m looking forward to a busy summer. It’s great to see the sunshine.”

After a long winter, Weymouth hasn’t seen a successfully busy weekend probably since last year’s hot summer.

If the warm weather continues, it will be excellent news for the majority of business owners who operate in the tourism focused world of the town centre and along the seafront and harbour.

It is also great news for the residents of Weymouth, those who live in surrounding areas in Dorset and especially tourists who have booked holidays in the South West over the course of the next few months.

After the wet weather the UK has experienced throughout 2016, Weymouth town centre and its popular beach can be fully enjoyed and appreciated in the upcoming months of the summer holidays.
