MORE than 100 incidents of hate crime and racial abuse have been reported in the UK since the EU referendum.
Foreign nationals from the EU and outside of the EU have been suffering from abuse, both physical and verbal, due to England’s decision to leave the EU..
There have been reports of signs such as ‘Leave the EU, no more Polish vermin’ being posted through letter boxes.
This seems to suggest that many people believed, as soon as the vote had been cast, migrants would all have to leave the country.
In a bid to ‘take back control’ as the Leave campaign promised they would, angry and determined voters have resorted to violence and abuse.
Many migrants or foreigners are being told to ‘go home’ and ‘pack their bags’, as well as graffiti being found on the Polish Social and Cultural Society entrance.
It seems people have taken to social media to report these crimes, with hundreds of tweets emerging of various experiences, whether it be hearing an attack on someone, or being the victim of an attack.
I think that these attacks are disgusting and although the vote was to leave, racial assaults and crimes are never acceptable.
This should be a time when Britain comes together in the union to try and make our country better, not give ourselves a bad name around the world for being racist and closed-minded.
