I’m really bothered by the wars and unrest in the Middle East.

I watch reports on the television of children like me suffering dreadfully and I feel so lucky that my life is safe and content, ordered and comfortable.

I see other children living in danger and destruction. They do not have schools and homes like we do. Some of them have lost their parents and family members, some of them are injured and maimed after all the shooting and bombings.

Their hospitals are dirty and not properly equipped to help with the terrible injuries that people suffer.

We have got a stable government and we care for each other. If we have problems we can resolve it through politics and discussion.

I can’t understand why other people resort to killing their neighbours and why their governments can’t all sit down and talk about the problems and ways to make it better.

It is so upsetting to see houses in ruins and lives turned upside down; why?

When we see pictures of old people and mothers and children being forced to leave the places they have always lived, with just a few possessions and walk across countries to find a place of shelter, I feel so sad and helpless.

Seeing all the used life jackets on the grass in Parliament Square was a shocking reminder of how difficult it is for refugees to find a safe place when they are driven from their homes.

They must be desperate. We want to see that others have the same opportunities as we do - to grow up, get educated and have nice lives - not live in a war zone with no security or future.

All governments in the world should get together and talk and get some agreements that make sure that people are more important than power and war
