The family of this year’s Weymouth Carnival junior princess, Maisie Sheridan, have thanked the community after the immense support they have received following the unfortunate incident where Maisie was struck by a van as she crossed a road.
Talented performer Maisie was on her way to Julie Storey’s dance class with friends when she was hit and sustained multiple injuries and was airlifted to hospital in Southampton.
She is now home and on the mend, and keen to get back to her busy lifestyle. Her parents and family have been given lots of support from local friends and neighbours, and would like to thank everyone for helping them through what her mother, Ali Cairney, described as being the “worst day of her life."
In particular, she wanted to pay tribute to the passers by who came to Maisie’s assistance.
The family have also been receiving warming messages, cards and flowers, showing a great deal of support within the community.
This is a perfect example of how an amazing group of people can pull together and turn a potentially tragic incident into a happy and restful recovery for everyone involved.
