Are hybrid and electric cars our future? Well, they would certainly be beneficial not only to us, but to the environment as well.

Hybrid and electric cars both have electrical engines. However, hybrid also have another petrol or diesel engine. Sometimes these are used together.

Aside from these speed rockets, there are more benefits to us. Not only is refuelling cheaper, but it means there is no need to cut down trees or dig up oil and have it spilt in the sea, killing sea life and birds unfortunate enough to come across it.

Also, it would reduce our carbon footprint across the earth and that would stop the North Pole melting.

For a typical, pure electric car charged from flat to full, for 100 miles, the cost could be as little as 96p. As there are about nine charging points in Dorchester and Weymouth, you don’t have to go far for one.

The negatives?

Journeys will take longer, meaning that you spend more time refuelling and travelling, electric cars cost slightly more than their petrol equivalent and not every company manufactures electric or hybrid cars.

In conclusion, I believe that our future is electric and hybrid cars. I can see why others may disagree with me due to the fact petrol cars have been around for longer, so they may seem the safer option, but people need to realise that electric cars are as reliable and safe as petrol cars.

We need to start taking risks to shape our future, as in the long run it will be benefits.
