Despite becoming more popular, ladies football is still not getting the same limelight compared to men’s football.

However, ladies football is slowly on the rise and is becoming recognised more and more.

The England women’s football team gets very little pay and sponsorship compared to the men’s team. But what makes them different?

Well, the answer is nothing.

They have the same skills and can play equally as well. To give an example, England ladies captain Steph Houghton earns an annual salary of about £65,000 and about £4,000 comes from sponsorship.

Wayne Rooney was paid £13million in 2015 - 200 times that of the ladies captain.

Unfortunately, it is not just ladies football suffering from this sexism.

Younger generations of women within the football community are also finding it hard to follow their passions.

Despite the sport becoming increasingly popular among women, there are just not enough teams and opportunities for girls. The most common conclusion we can make is that older generations have influenced younger generations and that women are not strong enough, which is clearly not true.

On the other hand, more and more people are becoming supportive of anyone and everyone joining in with the fun - even though it is still a slow process.
