BY JORDAN REYNOLDS

The Weymouth Royal Marine Cadets is a cadet group formed in with the Sea Cadets.

The cadets do a lot of charity work to help the community, for example they help with the British Legion’s Poppy Appeal, Remembrance Day and not forgetting Veterans’ Day.

I, myself am in the Royal Marine Cadets and, by joining it, it has taught me very important life skills such as discipline, courage, determination and humility.

Royal Marine Cadets take part in all of the usual sea cadet courses and activities, as well as learning specific training like field craft, map reading and weapon handling.

It’s arduous but exciting and these exhilarating activities take place across the UK, including at the Royal Marines Commando Training Centre at Lympstone in Devon - and all this has made me a better person.

Every year, there is a national competition called the Gibraltar Cup and it is held at Lympstone, where all the units compete against each other and test their skills and challenge their state of mind to be the best and win the cup.

The Weymouth Royal Marines will be an amazing youth charity for young people to learn outside of their comfort zones and will make new friends on the way.

So come and join us in the fun and go on amazing courses in the South West area. It is something that you won’t regret.
