I love animals, and to hear about the number of calls regarding concerns for animals really upsets me.

I have two pets - a cat and a dog - and so to think people aren’t giving the respect to animals they so rightly deserve actually makes me a little tempered.

I think the rising number of cases in January might be due to people forgetting that animals need the love and respect that we do, as humans.

They need to be given a little bit of tender loving care and should be spoiled a little bit every now and again.

People don’t realise that what they do to their pets can really impact on the animal’s stability. There shouldn’t be as many cases of abandoned or neglected animals as there are today and these animals deserve better.

I think people need more education on how to look after their pets and understand the responsibilities that they will be taking on before being able to own one.

I believe this could really help to reduce the number of calls over neglected animals.
