One of the benefits of the Olympics for Weymouth has been the introduction of electronic bus stops where you at least have an idea of when the next bus is coming.

However, for the last few days the bus stops on the Dorchester Road have not been giving this information at all.

Instead we have an electronic sign that says ‘Bus times are changing from April 6 check dorsetforyou.com/buses for up to date information’.

So you stand in the rain wondering when the next bus will come.

To me this is pointless. When I am at the bus stop I want to know when the bus is likely to come. I can look up the website any time.

On the railways their electronic signs can tell you about the next train and also inform you of engineering works at the same time.

Can’t bus stops do this?

I have an idea that this bus stop situation is not the responsibility of First Bus but whoever is in charge of these signs please put it right immediately.

I did, a few months ago, complain in these columns about the No 2 service to Littlemoor being shown on the stops as going to Buddleia Close.

Few people knew where that was. It was changed back to Littlemoor quite quickly.

Please, whoever is in charge of these bus stop signs. give us back our ‘next bus’ information as soon as possible.
