Reading the news in the family announcements of the death of Patricia Griffiths brought back some memories of a lovely and brave lady.

I often met Pat when I was the borough dog warden and she would always ask who I had in the van, expressing concern if the dogs were in poor condition and great joy when a stray was being returned to its owner.

For all her troubles, she would always produce a lovely smile.

She would tell me when students in the college were going to cut her hair and and how much pleasure she got from the attention they gave her.

She will be fondly remembered by many and life would be better should we have more characters like her.
