WEYMOUTH has gone forward thanks to the legacy of the Olympics.

We have been pushed into the 21st century and not stuck in the 1950s for sentimental holiday makers from the Midlands to relive their childhoods.

We have a fantastic beach now enhanced by the new imaginative refreshment kiosks, so popular most people are lucky to get a table. And the food and drink is excellent value compared to most seaside places I have visited – and that is a lot in the UK.

The laser lights were a disappointment. Are the old fairy lights a thing of the past? Does the lady in question still manage to put the old fashioned lights on her Christmas tree or use the more fashionable LED lights?

The gardens look lovely with the new modern Mediterranean style planting mixed with borders of brightly coloured flowers. The promenade has been modernised with palm trees and imaginative modern planting.

The tower is just what tourists want as well as a bucket and spade.

Well done for all the effort put in by all concerned in helping to keep Weymouth alive.
