I am so disappointed that yet again two more deaths have occurred on Weymouth Way at the same spot as the last one on a road in Weymouth Town.

This even when we were informed by the Highways after the death of a young child, that they would make the road crossing safer?

I have been asking why do we need a 50mph speed limit in Weymouth when the highways have changed speed limits in villages and also along the coastal roads which do not have areas where people are being directed to cross.

Not everybody is a sprinter, we have elderly and disabled people who while they can still walk use the cycle/walk paths.

How many more people need to die before someone realises that there are issues about crossing roads where there are 50mph speed limits?

I feel lucky myself as I had two near hits by vehicles at Chafeys Roundabout while on my mobility scooter before the traffic light was installed.

When I told a friend about it I was offered chance to store my scooter in the town so I could use it knowing I do not need to cross Chafeys Roundabout.

Now the set of traffic lights are installed I am able to use my mobility scooter from my home which is allowing me to go into the town with my family and the children.

I do hope now that the number of deaths proves that the speed limits should be reduced for the safety of all.

The government wants people to keep fit to help to bring down the costs of the NHS yet they are unable to make some entries on to the cycle pathways safe, especially when people are crossing roads.
