What a surprise! Someone in the local authority has finally acknowledged that huge sums of money have been wasted on attempting to introduce various traffic management schemes that had no chance of achieving the prime objective of improving traffic congestion in Dorchester.

It didn’t take a genius, nor complicated computer analyses (“rubbish in, rubbish out” comes to mind) to see that what was wanted was a plan which would ease the flow of traffic through the town, not something which would simply redirect the problems elsewhere, especially one which would have sent virtually all traffic to a junction which already struggles to cope.

According to Cllr Trevor Jones only now, and one assumes because of public pressure, is consideration being given to such a plan. Will anyone be held to account for the vast sums wasted? Don’t hold your breath! Let us just hope that any new plan goes to public consultation before being implemented so we don’t get some half-baked idea that doesn’t solve the problem.
