I empathise hugely with HD Bedworth (Your Say, Oct 27) I live in Dorchester and although we have had this system in place since March 2014, there are still ongoing similar problems.

We had a missed rubbish collection last Wednesday (22/10/14) – all other bins in the road were emptied except ours. It was put out on the pavement at 6pm the evening before.

We reported this about 5pm that same day, to be told the problem would be logged and dealt with within three working days, apologies given, etc.

I checked again with the DWP yesterday, as nothing had happened, and they were blaming the high incidences of missed collections in Weymouth for our problem.

Well here we are on Tuesday, October 28 and the bin still hasn't been emptied. This will be our fourth missed/ partially missed collection since March.

We have observed on rubbish collecting day that the bin operatives are rushing along and whipping out the black bags – generally – from the black wheelie bins and piling them, well hurling them really, out into the road ready to fling them into the passing refuse vehicle.

On another collection day, the operative dragged our bin out into the road, opened the lid and proceeded to pile other black bags from other neighbours on top of our rubbish still in our bin.

This resulted in the bottom bag in our bin being wedged tightly in and prevented it from sliding into the vehicle – and on this occasion they managed to use the proper emptying procedure!

An earlier letter suggested that the microchip in our bin logged the amount of rubbish we have, so how can this data be correct if the operatives can’t get their act together and use the system correctly?

What is weird is that they won’t take black bags of rubbish sitting on their own as they used to outside your gate, but it’s OK if they’re sitting in the road having been flung there.
