As a Weymouth town centre resident who reads the Echo most days, I should like to speak in support and defence of what I have seen of the efforts the BID organisation has made to improve Weymouth High Street and its all year round attraction to tourists.

Several empty shop windows have been made to look more appealing and less vulnerable to vandalism with the BID’s logo over them.

BID have helped some small businesses, e.g. Christmas lights in St Alban’s Street last year, the Feast Event in October this year, as well as being behind the successful Easter competition, Halloween and Victorian Show night, all of which were great fun.

It is so easy to criticise peoples’ efforts, and what a shame two committed joint Chairmen of the BID have felt it necessary to resign!
