I CANNOT be alone in feeling fed-up with all this to-ing and fro-ing of claim and counter claim about the Navitus Bay development.

Our councillors seem hell-bent on wasting local taxpayers’ money trying to stop this project and make a name for themselves.

The latest diatribe from Philip Stanley-Watts comprises information from his study of geology.

All the reports and studies I have read contain the words ‘informed judgement’, ‘risk of’, ‘assessment of possible effects’, ‘research into’ and ‘possibility of’ amongst other similar phrases.

Not one word of proof.

The fact is that our beloved Jurassic coast has been changing year-on-year due to weather, tides, waves and winds to the point that the coastline probably bears no resemblance to the coastline of the Jurassic period, and the effect of a wind farm nine miles out to sea cannot be proved or disproved for the projected 30 to 35-year lifespan of the project.

It’s time the bigger picture is considered with a view of ‘green’ measures for the future generation of power.

Now if Mr Stanley-Watts wants to make a name for himself by proving the inefficiency of this project, he might have my support as well as others.

He and his associates on the council might spend his time and our money more wisely by asking the residents of Bourne-mouth what we think might improve our town, instead of filling the pages of our local press with such relentless negativity.
