I learned this week that North Dorset Conservatives are not interviewing any local applicants for their next parliamentary candidate. Is it any surprise that protest parties such as UKIP are becoming more popular?

People are now genuinely fed up with ‘career politicians’ representing us who almost always have no link to the local area whatsoever.

In my opinion there is nothing to be gained by an outsider being parachuted in. People want, and need, to see someone who is from their community leading them, someone they can get behind and believe in.

The suits in Westminster are getting it wrong again.
