Why do we have to endure all the bother of changing clock time twice a year?

There must be a better way to do it!

So let us consider what the factors are:-

1) The hours of Daylight which vary with the Seasons are set by the mechanics of the Solar System and mere Man cannot alter that! We can however organise our days to make the best use of the Daylight hours.

2) Scottish Farmers in particular seem to have problems with this, why, is a mystery to me. However, their animals do not have clocks or watches and surely take their time from Dawn and Dusk! Why can't the Farmers do the same, and surely they are in a very good position to do just that, and work the hours that suit them best, regardless of anyone else.

3) It is generally acknowledged that it is safer for children to go to School in the dark and come home, when there is more opportunity to wander, in daylight rather than the reverse, it is said that many lives would be saved by such a change.

4) So, what is the best way to achieve these desirable results? In these days of flexitime surely each School and College could set its own hours to suit its staff, students, and the Seasons. Each Workplace could also set its own working times to suit its purpose and convenience. Such arrangements would, of course have to be worked out in consultation of all concerned. This would have the added advantage of spreading 'Rush Hours', and potentially making journeys to and from work quicker, safer and less polluting.

5) These changes do not need a statutory change in clock time twice a year which costs a considerable amount to implement. Let's all keep our clocks on Greenwich Mean Time all year round, The World Wide Time standard, which after all we invented.

6) Problem solved!
