I have recently received an election pamphlet from the Conservative candidate for South Dorset, Mr Richard Drax.

Its headline informs us that he voted against same sex marriage.

Of course, there are strongly held opinions on this matter, on both sides of the argument, but I would not think that it was a major issue with many people in South Dorset. Jobs and housing, education, the NHS, the economy and the environment, all these are significant concerns to people, but not single sex marriage.

That Mr Drax should choose this as his chief platform on which to address the electorate only reveals how incredibly out of touch he is with the majority of the local population.
