Nearly everyone who wrote to the planners about Ferrybridge suggested keeping the pub as it is and building around it.

But the council planning department have totally ignored that suggestion and stuck to the developers plans which knock the pub down.

Those who wrote objections have been told they can go to the planning meeting next week, but there is no point, the plans being voted on take out the pub, and local opinion counts for nothing.

Are the planners against community pubs? It certainly seems to be the case in Wyke.

They ignore the fact that the Ferrybridge is an iconic landmark, on cycling and walking routes from Portland and the coast path, and is a very popular and thriving pub.

Sadly, I don't think we can get rid of them at the next council elections, planners don't stand, and anyway, they are all tarred with the same financial brush.
