SOME of the comments made about the redevelopment of the old fire station prior to planning permission were:- “What I am hoping to see in the new application is a sympathetic development that the residents will be comfortable with.
“I think it’s important that a development happens that enhances the whole of Weymouth harbour side.”
I personally was worried that it would be an over development.
That it might destroy the established view previously held by the houses behind, or that it would add yet another problem to perhaps the worst pedestrian crossing in the western world.
Also that it would not help to alleviate the housing problem in our borough, or offer some affordable housing to local folk (in the leaflet that came through my door I saw that some of the two bedroom flats are a very affordable £400,000, or be an eyesore, or be too close to the pavement, or add additional traffic to this area of transport (mis)management.
It seems this project has scored on all points.
Who do we have to thank?
