SO DORSET County Hospital has now employed someone to head their official charity, another addition to the ever growing amount of non-nursing/medical personnel.

Apparently the cash raised is to provide things that are above and beyond what the NHS provides such as new equipment. Why should something essential like new equipment have to be financed by charitable donations?

The local hospice is already funded largely by charitable donations. To hear that we are now expected to do the same for our NHS hospital is beyond belief.

The government gives away a massive amount every year in aid, including, apparently £180million to foreign police forces.

Meanwhile all we hear about here are cuts to our services.

DCH has always received donations from grateful patients and relatives but it seems they are now going to be actively seeking more.

How can this be right when there are already so many other charities appealing for money?
