I HOPE the fight to save Kingfisher Children's Ward from being moved from the Dorset County Hospital will not just be left to the present group of mothers and families who will be so badly affected by it. Any move, of any part of the hospital should be fought by everyone.

Weymouth, Dorchester and the area to the west needs a decent hospital of its own.

With all the proposed building that will be taking place the local population is set to increase considerably and now the government has decided to lift a lot of restrictions placed on developers, the number could be far bigger than planned for.

In these awful times of stress and worry for so many people most just do not want anymore hassle, but this is something that will affect all of the local population in years to come.

It is done very slyly, just pecking away; today the children's ward, tomorrow the orthopaedics ward until finally you might be lucky to be left with an A&E. We must not let this happen – it is a fight ALL of us must join.

When this lot got in again I said, 'goodbye NHS' and 'hello fox hunting'. I am hoping I will be proved wrong. I doubt it.
