I BOUGHT the Dorset Echo (July 6) on the strength of seeing that lovely photo of Pippi with her owner. I was shocked on reading the account of the uncalled for attack that Pippi received, so decided to write.

Having owned a small dog similar to Pippi, I realise they are a responsibility, plus training is important. I’m sure that all dog owners are aware of the need to carry ‘poo bags’ when taking their pet for a walk and the necessary need to ‘answer the call of nature’.

What is so shocking in this particular case is the cruel and totally unnecessary attack made on a little dog out for a walk with his elderly owner. The cowardly attacker has ‘left his mark’ on a worried owner plus a frightened little dog.
