HAVING just read Steve Trewella’s take on the seagull issue I would like to respond.

Steve suggests that we all have to be less messy.

Can I also suggest that people actually stop feeding the gulls deliberately.

I have several neighbours who continue to put out trays of food for the gulls, despite Environmental Health requesting them to stop, trays of bread, dishes of dog food and whatever else is put out specifically for the gulls.

Smaller birds don’t get a look in. Please don’t get me started, about how difficult it is to enjoy a picnic or a barbecue in your garden or being woken at 4am by screeching gulls.

Please let the gulls be gulls, they are not family pets.

You might say why live beside the sea? Well, I too have rights to live in a place I love.
