I WAS pleased to see the old Weymouth football team on the back of the Dorset Echo (issue 26/08/2015) from seasons 1947/48 and to see my late father Bill Pitney in the photo who played for them. However, as I read further into the article, 125 years of the Terras, I became a little more frustrated when the article said that Weymouth Football Club would probably not move until the year 2019.
What a shame for all the speedway fans that read this article, me being one of them. I was also involved with the running of the speedway for many years until we were evicted and our tiny, well-kept stadium and track were demolished.
We could have still been running speedway at the football club until 2019 and our rent could have contributed to the running of the Weymouth Football Club. Very sad.
