I am absolutely certain that the badger cull in Dorset will have a significant impact in the fight against bovine TB in the county, despite what some of your correspondents might think (Letters, September 4).
With around one in seven cattle herds in Dorset under movement restriction because of bovine TB at the end of last year it is vital we do everything we can to stop this disease spreading.
Previous trials have shown that targeted badger culling does help in the fight against bovine TB in cattle in areas where the disease is endemic.
Cattle farmers in the county are fighting a daily battle against bovine TB.
The only way we are going to get on top of the situation and stop the cycle of reinfection is by tackling this disease in cattle and badgers.
