SIMON Hoare, MP for North Dorset, has confirmed recently that he will vote to support cuts to tax credits that will affect many thousands of his own constituents by over £1,300 a year.

By doing so, he is sending out a clear message.

If you are an agricultural worker earning a modest wage, or a dairy farmer struggling to keep your head above the water, if you are a shop keeper or are self employed in North Dorset struggling to pay the rent or the mortgage, or if you are a parent of a disabled child and you can’t go to work, then Simon isn’t on your side.

He’s not on the side of hard-working families who have sucked up all the suffering of the past five years, who accepted pay cuts and reduced hours to see us through the recession.

He’s not on the side of those who were promised by the prime minister that tax credits wouldn’t be cut, only to find two months later that they were.

He is however very much on the side of those wealthy individuals with family homes worth £2 million.

Those unfortunate families who have suffered from that awful property boom that has seen their homes balloon in value without them having to lift a finger. Simon, very much, feels their pain.

So he’s going to support a £1 billion inheritance tax giveaway that will benefit each family with homes valued at £2 million by £140,000.

I’m not sure how that helps reduce the deficit, but hey ho, it’ll help out those Tories who got him elected and to Simon, that’s all that really matters.
