HOWARD G. Curtin is concerned about “housing”. Who isn’t? Especially those who cannot afford exorbitant rents charged by private landlords etc. And therein lies the problem. It is all very well moaning about too many immigrants, and all potential immigrants that might or might not enter the UK. Yes, joining the European Union was big mistake.

Again, yet another political con. And for their own ends.

But the nub of the housing dilemma is social housing. Not enough of it. And all the new housing mentioned by Mr Curtin is private. Not social. And a vast amount of it will not be "affordable". That is a huge problem!

And why can't many people cannot afford to buy a house or rent a house?. Because rapacious property developers want as much profit out of a housing development as possible. They couldn’t give a damn whether poor people can afford their properties or not.

All they care about is their bottom line.

Yes, some developers build a bit of social housing just to make it look good. But basically it is merely lip-service. And they know it. What we really need is lots more council/social housing projects funded by government and maybe partly private funds. Housing and rents that are truly affordable.

Not private rents that fill the bank accounts of property developers and numerous other property companies whose only modus operandi is their shareholders.
