ANDREW Martin is wrong in his analysis of the causes of accidents in Weymouth.

From the aptly named kamikaze junction, Sidney Hall to the new Dorchester road going over Ridgeway, both have flaws which the planners installed.

Over-complicated badly marked signage, plus the fear of trying to get over fast flowing traffic coming down Boot Hill makes people nervous, two lanes on exit, cars speeding up, then a bus stop and the lanes converging, not an ideal recipe for a free-flowing design.

You can see where the accidents occur where the planners have got it wrong.

On the Ridgeway, where traffic speed is well over 80mph, going over a blind summit and converging into one straight after, I witnessed a car passing me still in the “fast “ lane doing 70 and cutting in at the last moment, causing lorries to brake hard in thick fog, which is usually evident.

Why install a new roundabout at Mount Pleasant and not follow through with one at Sidney Hall?

The simple solution to Ridgeway is to continue the dual carriageway all the way to Dorchester, in both directions.
