WHY does the council bother to ask for opinions from the residents when it takes no notice of what they say.

A total of 51% didn’t think the dogs on leads idea is good, but the council does otherwise.

Does this mean that children should be on leads as well?

I both walk dogs and cycle on the Rodwell Trail and I know that the main culprits are the majority of cyclists.

My dogs learned that when I shouted “Dogs, silent bike” they stayed to the side; but sadly the bikers don’t learn and they still come zooming up behind and past the walkers without any noise.

Cyclists should have bells to use, and if not, they have voices.

I have often been thanked for ringing the bike bell as I approach. I have heard of a child injured by a bike, and have seen one missed by a fraction of an inch because the cyclist didn’t warn the mother and child.

Most dogs do not want to poo on tarmac, but if they are on leads they can’t get to the side, and sometimes the owners selfishly leave it there, but if the dog is free it would take to the bushes to do its stuff.

When the consultation was proposed I suggested signs saying cyclists should warn pedestrians of their approach. Presumably now there will be signs warning walkers of all the fines, etc, they may face, but nothing to make it safer, and nothing to tell cyclists to take care and slow down around children and dogs.
