Well said, Christine James, that dogs should be banned from our beach completely. They pose a health and safety risk and are at best a nuisance.
Also well done to the council enforcing a ban in other places like the Rodwell Trail that dogs must be kept on short leads.
A few years ago a dog rushed up to my granddaughter who was in her pushchair and tried to get at an ice cream she was holding. No worry came from the owner.
I’m sick of dogs rushing up to me when I’m out walking and their owners lovingly saying ‘oh they’re only being friendly’. Keep them on leads or take them into the countryside for a run.
If you’re not able to exercise your dog enough, then don’t have one.
And as for dog owners on mobility scooters, I despair! If they are able to bend to pick up pooh, what are they doing on a scooter in the first place? My guess is they don’t pick up after their dogs.
We hear all sorts of objections about these restrictions from dog owners but many people feel like I do and it would be nice if other people came out and publicly backed the mayor and councillors.
Dogs are not children, they are animals.
